What does good design mean to you?

Atmosphere, originality and having an element of surprise, whilst ensuring that comfort and practicality are high on the priority list. At RB we love colour and layering lots of new and old to create timeless interiors which then have the flexibility to grow over time.

What do you think makes a good interior designer?

Understanding the brief and patience!

What are the most important features when designing a space?

Light and optimising space. For us, the building itself is always the starting point taking into account the context, architectural features and period before beginning the creative process.

What is the one thing every home should have?

Every home should have good energy and a comfortable atmosphere. This can all be created from the belongings you place inside, making it personal and inviting.

There are so many fabulous suppliers out there, combining them, knowing what to use from where and in what project is a hard task! What is about Julian Chichester that draws you in?

The wide variety of everchanging timeless furniture and quality craftmanship of each piece is what draws us in. Also the ability to customise any piece to make bespoke.
