Forever Furniture, Not Fast Furniture

THINKING CONSCIOUSLY

We are all aware that the lifespan of lower-quality furniture is very limited. It is the reason why furniture consumption increases by 150% every ten years.

Lower-quality, mass-produced furniture, offered at affordable prices, is too easy to throw away when its no longer wanted.Past generations bought high-quality, handcrafted wooden furniture that was passed down from generation to generation. Sadly, this way of consumption is very much in decline.

Our ethos is to manufacture exquisitely designed, beautifully crafted, timeless furniture that can become heirlooms of the future. Our designs will stand the test of time in both design and build.

Making Changes

Responsible Sourcing of Materials

We work with FSC CERTIFIED suppliers. The FSC system allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.

As of January 2020, Julian Chichester are also REACH compliant. Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is a European Union regulation dating from 18 December 2006. REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment, the most important in 20 years.

Product Circularity

Like most furniture companies we sometimes have excess return and sample stock that we cannot sell on. Rather than going direct to landfill we donate to charities and social initiatives. In 2022-2023 these included: Redeeming Homes; TP Caring Spaces; Haines Collection; and Furniture Helpline. We also hold a seasonal Outlet Sale, reducing waste in our warehouse and gives customers a chance to buy at a discounted rate for a limited time.

If you would like to partner with us to improve our Product Circularity please contact the Outlet.

Waste Management

We have moved from EPS to EPE Polyethene, although non-biodegradable, it is reusable and recyclable.

This type of packaging can be melted down and re moulded. Alongside this we are now using HONEYCOMB packaging which is extremely strong, super lightweight and 100% recyclable.
